Notizen zu dieser Person
Pastor Christian Carl Wolff baptized him. There were 8 students in his confirmation class. Source - Lutheran church in Rövershagen, Mecklenburg. Taufpaten: - Franz Jacob Stuth - Fridrich Lorenz - Joh. Christian Siderstrand 1910 census indicates his parents were born in Germany. He immigrated to America in 18?8. His sister, Elizabeth, was living with him and his wife. From Logan County, Illinois, the Clerk sent me a declaration of intention for citizenship for Christ A. Lohrenz (with an "h"). He renounced allegiance to the King of Prussia. On Monday, March 11, 1877, his citizenship was granted. Because of the "h", I don't know if this is the same Chris Lorenz as listed on the censuses. For now it is filed under his name. 1880 Illinois soundex lists John Myers living with them. He was 18 and from Prussia. His relationship to Christ Lorenz is unreadable. Also, John and Dora Lorenz (spelled Laurence on the soundex for each family member) have an "N. R." relationship to Christ Lorenz. Obituary reads: Died at 10 o'clock Tuesday night, May 10, 1916, at the residence in Breckenridge, Chris Lorenz, aged 83 years, 9 months and 19 days. The funeral will be held tomorrow at the M. E. church in Buckhart, Rev. T. B. Wright officiating. Interment will be in Rochester Cemetery. The decedent was born in Mecklenburg, Schwerim, Germany, July 20, 1832, and came to America in 1857. He married Anna Harms October 13, 1864. To this union were born eight children, six surviving. They are Fred, William and Charles of Breckenridge and George of Saffordville, Kan., and Meggie Wilson of Custer and Dora Sandidge of New Berlin. Mr. Lorenz had followed the occupation of farming all his life. Eight years ago he retired. He had lived in Sangamon County since 1860 and at Breckenridge the last ten years. He was a member of the German Lutheran church. Records from Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield, Illinois, also indicate his name to be Christian. His death certificate indicates his name to be Christopher. Death certificate indicates his death to be April 8, 1916, and his burial to be May 12, 1916. The certificate is witnessed on May 10, 1916. Illinois statewide online death index gives his death date as May 9, 1916, in Cooper Township. Death certificate #0034683. Buried in either "30-2" or "40-2" of Oak Hill. There are 2 Chris Lorenzes buried there. Expenses from Wilson Park Funeral Home: casket - $150; oak box - $35; L___ - $10; lining - $3; embalming - $10, hearse - $10; slippers - $3; 2 carriages - $30. Total $251. His obituary gives another funeral home.
