MRS. OTTO PAGELER
Greke Katherine Pageler, daughter of Henry Pageler and his wife, Gesha Herren Pageler was born July 31, 1877, in the Wells Creek community where she resided all of her life. After a long illness, she died at the St. Mary Hospital in Manhattan on October 21, 1953, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 21 days. As an infant she was received into the fellowship of the Christian church by baptism on August 26, 1877, by the Rev. Senne, of the Wells Creek Lutheran church. she was confirmed on March 22,1891, by the Rev. P Bruckner and became a member of Immanuel Evangelical church. On March 8, 1894, she married Otto Pageler. the Rev. John Abele performed the ceremony. During their lifetime, Mr. and Mrs. Pageler operated several farms in the Wells Creek community. Five children were born to their union, all are living except the oldest son who died in infancy. Mr. Pageler preceded her in death on November 24, 1941. Others of her immediate family who have died are her parents; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Maas, of Davenport Iowa, Mrs. Etta Sauner, of Alma, Kans., and a sister who died in infancy; one brother, Gerd Pageler and one grandson, Harold Pageler. those nearest relatives who survive her are four children, Ed and Albert Pageler of Wells Creek, Belvue, Kansas, Mrs. Marie Willie, Paxico, Kansas, and Mrs. Selma Hafenstein of Wamego, Kansas, six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Schweir and Mrs. Margaret Jung, of Wamego one sister-in-law, Mrs. Anna Pageler, of Roselle, Illinois two brothers-law, Peter Maas, of Davenport, Iowa and Gus Sauer, of McFarland, Kansas; also other relatives. Mrs. Pageler was a good mother and person who made friends easily. Funeral services were conducted on October 24, 1953, at Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church of Wells Creek, Belvue, with the Rev. A. Vernon Kurz in charge. Pall bearers were Harold Armburst, Loren Martens, William Martens, Erwin Hasenbank, Arnold Hasenbank and Larry Bahner. Interment was in the church cemetery.
