"JOHANNE CHRISTIANE SCHOLZ was born near Luben in Germany on29thJuly, 1830, as the 2nd child of Johann Gottfried Scholz andhiswife Anna Rosina nee Walther. When she was 15 years old,thefamily, the n consisting of 3 boys and 4 girls, migratedto,South Australia, where they lived near Light Pass. On the25thjuly, 1948 she married Johann Carl Walter. The couple madetheirhome on a farm at White Hi ll near Gruenberg. In 1866 theymovedto the Bethel district, and seven years later purchased afarmnear Point Pass. Their marriage was blessed with a family of13children, two of whom died in infancy . Her husband died on22ndOctober, 1906, but she continued on in the district, livingwithher children, until in her 83rd year she passed away on the12thJanuary, 1913 at the home of her daughter (Mrs . Jochinke).Theremained to mourn her passing 2 sons, 5 daughters, 65grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren. She was buried ontheImmanuel Cemetery at Point Pass".
