Invalid mother, insame room with son for 24 hours, is unable to call for help. Removed tohospital. The strange tale of an 84 year old mother, who was in the sameroom with her dead son for 24 hours and who wsa unable to call forassistance because she was an invalid, was told today, following thediscovery last night of the body of Charles Mishler, aged 45, beendetermined, but it is believed that he was suffering from pneumonia. When the neighbors of the Mishler family noticed that no lights wereburning in the home last night, an investigation was made and the body ofthe son was found. He apparently had been dead for about 24 hours. Lyingon a couch in the same room with dead son was Mrs.Treese Mishler, who wasan invalid. The aged mother, suffering somewhat by reason of heraffliction and by her experience. was removed to the Memorial Hospital inthe police patrol and was reported resting fairly well at the Eight Wardinstitution today. Corner Annie Swabb was advised of the death of Charles Mishler andordered Undertaker George Viering to remove the body to his mortuary,where it will held, pending word from relatives. Johnstown Tribune-Democrat 4 Jan 1930 Follow up reads : Mishler Funeral this afternoon -- West End Man Victim of Pneumonia;Mother Ill in Hospital Confirming the original belief that death resulted from pneumonia, aninvestigation has been completed by Mrs. Annie Swabb, Coroner, into thedeath of Charles Mishler, aged 45, who was found dead last Tuesday nighton the floor of the Mishler home 169 F Street. Mishler had been illabout two weeks, having given some medicine by a physician, andapparently died of the result of neglecting a cold, Mrs. Swabb stated. Funeral services were arranged for 2 o'clock this afternoon from theVierling Funeral Home, Franklin Street, with burial in GrandviewCemetery. The Rev. Paul Heist, associate pastor of the Zion LutherenChurch, was to conduct the obsequies. At Memorial Hospital the conditionof Mrs. Treese Mishler, 84 year old mother of Charles Mishler, isreported as fair. At the time of finding the sons body, neighborsdiscovered Mrs. Mishler ill on a couch nearby, and she was removed to thehospital, Mrs. Mishler is a invalid.
