[edwards.FTW] [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 2, Ed. 1, Tree #0888, Date of Import: 6 May 2002] He died near Nashville TN at the Confederate Soldiers Home (the Hermitage) and is buried there. He served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. After the war, he married and livrd in Tullahoma TN. Leaving Tennessee, he movrd to Hazeldell, Montaque County TX and settled there for a time. In 1878 he went to Gillespie county TXand taught school at Willow City in Gillespie County. He lost his wife and six children in less than one year and left that part of the country, going to New Mexico. In about 1895 helived for a time with his brother John A Byrom near Postoak TX. After a short time he left Texas, returing to Tennessee, where he lived and died. in 1896 or 1897 he published an unsuccessful arithmetic book, mathmatics being his hobby. His funeral was held at the Hermitage, the old home of Andrew Jackson, where he had been living with other old confederate soldiers. In the parlor of the old home with the old soldiers and his brother Rev. George S. Byrom and Mrs R.E. Foster (now 1940) of Carrrollton GA in attendance, his remains were honored for the last time. Some accounts say that he only had one daughter who died young. However, it is well known that he was interested in the family history of th Byroms and is said to have had valuable records. He left no living descendents.
