Published in The Observer-Dispatch from May 7 to May 8, 2012 Mary (Falk) DeNigro, 84, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at St. Joseph Nursing Home, with her family by her side. Mary was born on May 16, 1927, in Utica, the daughter of Norbert and Margaret (Rohm) Falk. Mary was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament School, Utica Catholic Academy, Utica Comptometer School, and briefly worked for Joseph & Feiss. In June of 1951, she married Anthony P. DeNigro in Blessed Sacrament Church. They enjoyed a blessed union of 33 years prior to his passing on March 8, 1984. Mary was a former member of Blessed Sacrament Church and a communicant of Historic Old St. John's Church. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was dedicated to her family and was a great cook and baker. She volunteered her time to help people in need, especially at the Lutheran Home, Grace Church soup kitchen, and elderly neighbors. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Mary C. and Wayne Hosey; son, Patrick DeNigro; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Charles Goldsmith; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Lucille Falk, and Jack and Mary Falk. Also surviving are grandchildren, Mary, Becky, Patrick, Dana, Michael, Marc, Michelle and Dave; great-grandchildren, Francisca, David, Steven and Matthew; and special friend, George Stein. Mary was predeceased by her sister, Jane Falk; brothers and a sister-in-law, Howard, Norbert and Peggy Falk; and daughter-in-law, Darlene DeNigro. Funeral services will be Tuesday (today) at 9:30 a.m. at Historic Old St. John's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The family will receive guests at the conclusion of Mass. There is no public visitation. Interment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. In keeping with the family's wishes, please omit floral offerings and consider remembrances in Mary's name to the Historic Old St. John's Food Pantry. The family extends their gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph Nursing Home for the special care Mary received, as well as the pastoral care provided to Mary and her family.
