Julianne Gerstbrein, 49, of Ross Township, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009. She was born Jan. 6, 1960, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Mildred (Draskovich) Gerstbrein and the late Dr. Harry L. Gerstbrein. She was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and received her BSN in 1981. In 1988, she received her masters (M.S.N.) from the Medical University of South Carolina. She was the regional director of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and was a critical care registered nurse. For more than the past 10 years, Julie was employed as the director of nursing education and director of MICU at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She is the beloved wife of Conrad A. Sugrue; sister of Harry L. Gerstbrein, Lisa McCanna, Tim Gerstbrein and Eric Gerstbrein; aunt of Jesse, Michael, Nicole and Matthew. She enjoyed music in her spare time and was a member of the Bloomfield Liedertafel Singing Society, which has a focus on German music. She devoted her life to both her family and her pets. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Peter Parish, 720 Arch St., Pittsburgh. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of NATION FUNERAL HOME INC., 218 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald.
