Dr. Harry L. Gerstbrein
Dr. Harry L. Gerstbrein, 69, 209 Locust Lane,
Kittanning, died Wednesday, Sep 22, 1999, at Armstrong County Memorial
Hospital. He was born June 30, 1930, in in Greensburg, the son of the late
Harry L. and Rosella (Breinig) Gerstbrein. He married Mildred Draskovich June
16, 1956. Dr. Gerstbrein was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church,
Brady's Bend. He retired as a pathologist from Armstrong County Memorial
Hospital in 1988. Dr. Gerstbrein was a 1948 graduate of Central Catholic High
School, a 1952 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and a 1956 graduate of
the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He was an Air Force veteran,
serving as a flight surgeon with the rank of captain. Surviving are his wife;
two daughters: Lisa A. McCanna of Kittanning and Julianne Sugrue of
Pittsburgh; three sons: Timothy M. of Cowansville RD 1 and Eric F. and Harry
L., both of Pittsburgh; three sisters: Catherine A. Nelson, Rose M. Fochler
and Joan Weston, all of Altoona; a brother, Thomas of New Berlin, WI; and a
grandson.
Friends were received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Gerstbrein residence,
209 Locust Lane, Sedwick Heights, Kittanning. Arrangements by Bauer Funeral
Home, Kittanning. GERSTBREIN _ A Mass of Christian Burial for Dr. Harry L.
Gerstbrein will be held at 11 a.m. today, Sep 24, 1999, at St. Patrick's
Roman Catholic Church, Brady's Bend, PA, with the Rev. Thomas Federline of
St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church officiating. Friends were received from
7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sep 23, at the Gerstbrein residence, 209 Locust Lane,
Sedwick Heights, Kittanning, PA. Arrangements by Bauer Funeral Home,
Kittanning. He is survived by a grandson, Matthew Gerstbrein. He was preceded
in death by a sister, Gloria Gerstbrein. The family requests memorial
contributions be given to a charity of one's choice. Altoona Mirror, Sep 24,
