Strusz, 84, formerly of Hay Creek, died Monday afternoon atthe Red Wing Seminary Memorial Home where he had lived the past 1 1/2years. Born Dec. 10, 1896, in Featherstone Township, he was the son ofKatharine and George Strusz. He attended schools in FeatherstoneTownship and the Immanuel Lutheran School in Hay Creek. He served in the army during World War I. Following his discharge hefarmed with his brother in Hay Creek Township. He married Lydia Bremer Feb. 23, 1922, in Red Wing. The couple farmedin Hay Creek Township until retiring in 1966 and moving to Red Wingwhere they lived at 124 E. Fourth Street. His wife died Nov. 25,1977. Following his retirement from farming he worked as a salesman for thePfister Seed Co. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hay Creekwhere he had served on the cemetery board for many years. He was pastpresident of the Hay Creek Farm Bureau, a member of the World War IVeterans and had served as treasurer for the former School DistrictNo. 122. He is survived by two sons, Luverne of Red Wing and Marvin of Kimball,Minn.; five daughters, Mrs. Harris (Helen) Eppen of Red Wing, Mrs.Luvern (Hermina) Alms and Mrs. Elroy (Doris) Rusch, both of Goodhue,Mrs. Richard H. (Elaine) Diercks of rural Red Wing and Mrs. Dennis(Janice) Stieg of Corcoran, Minn.; 27 grandchildren; 30great-grandchildren; three brothers, H. Otto Strusz of Red Wing,Maynard of Zumbrota and Walter of Goodhue; and one sister, Mrs. John(Leona) Gerken of Lake City. In addition to his wife, two brothers and two grandchildren precededhim in death. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church withRev. Victor Meyr officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.Friends may call at Bodelson Funeral Home Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m.and Thursday at the church from noon until the time of the service.
