The following provided by Myrtle Seitz Sell (1962). "Carrie ElizabethSeitz was born in Hanover December 26, 1871. In school, she was verybright. Did not finish high school, but went to work to help supporther family. Learned dressmaking with Tillie Young (Mrs. Ralph Youngon Franklin Street) without pay (she was an apprentice). She laterwent to Baltimore and went out sewing by the day. Most of her workwas done for Mrs. Sadie Straus (sp?) (her husband was a big distillerin Baltimore, MD). She went into business for herself in the home ofMrs. Herbst on East Biddle Street. She had a good business.Sometimes had six girls working for her. Carrie had a lovelydisposition - always laughing and was babysitter for the youngerchildren when she still lived at home. Her best friend was GraceZeigler. She married James Edgar Brown from Baltimore, MD. They hadfour children. She died in Hallstead, PA at Helen's home on July 7,1939.was very small and delicate as a baby; had to be carried on a pillow Cerebral hemorage funeral at her brother, Bob’s, home In Baltimore, MD, and there went out sewing by the day doing fam ilysewing. Most of her work was done for Mrs. Sadie Straus. M r. Strauswas a big distiller in Baltimore. From there she wen t into businessfor herself in the home of Mrs. Herbst on East B iddle Street. Shewas very busy at times and had six girls work ing for her. Carrie hada lovely disposition, always laughing . She was the babysitter forthe younger children when she wa s still at home. They enjoyed herbecause she amused them and w as not strict with them. Her bestfriend was Grace Zeigler of H anover.
