ging mit 17 Jahren zur Uni Jena,begann mit dem Jurastudium,wechselte auf Wunsch der Mutter zum theologischen Fach.1727 wurde er Nachfolger seines Vaters im Pfarramt zu Hemer.1732 wählte ihn die lutherische Gemeinde Solingen in ihr Pfarramt.Forstmann bekannte sich immer mehr zum Pietismus.Spener und Franke waren seine Vorbilder.Er schloß sich,ohne seinem lutherischen Bekenntnis untreu zu werden, der Zinzendorfschen Lehre von der Versöhnung an.Aus seiner Feder stammt Katechismus,,Göttliche Wahrheiten der heiligen evangelisch-lutherischen Religion in Frage undAntwort.
