In the the same time frame that Karl Friedrich Schwald was illegitimatelyborn in 1866, his older half -sister Maria Barbara had two illegitimatedaughters, whose father also was not identified. Illegitimate births werenot at all uncommon, but the father was usually mentioned in the marginof the birth records (which was not the case of any of the three birthsin question), and the father usually eventually married the mother. (AnIllegible note in the margin of the birth record of the second daughterindicates that the father may have been named Ernst Jakob, but it isimpossible to read his last name and is, therefore, useless.) I suspectthat it was common knowledge in the little village of Kaltenbach who thefather(s) was/were and the scribe saw no need to make a note of it. I,also, have a suspicion that it was the same father in the case of allthree births, but course, this is only conjecture.

Maria Barbara Schwald (1844) had an illegitimate daughter named MariaBarbara on January 19, 1864, in Kaltenbach.
She had a second illegitimate daughter in Kaltenbach on March 27, 1866,named Ernstina. On July 8, 1866, Johannes Forsthuber of Kaltenbachacknowledged that he was the father of Ernstina (inexplicity, shown asVerena Ernstina).
We can make the reasonable assumption that he was the father also ofMaria Barbara (1864).
Johannes Forsthuber and his brother Johann Jacob exchanged favors. Eachwas a Godfather to illegitimate children fathered by the other. JohannJacob later married Maria Katharina Lais of Kaltenbach, the mother of hisillegitimate child.
On March 28, 1867, Johannes Forsthuber married Maria Barbara Schwald inKaltenbach. They went on to have five more children, all born inKaltenbach.
1. Albert--April 3, 1870 (Maria Katharina (Lais) Forsthuber was aGodmother.)
2. Ernst Friedrich--May 8, 1871 ( Jacob Friedrich Forsthuber and JohannGeorg Forsthuber, two other brothers, were Godfathers.)
3. Emma--December 3, 1872 (Johann Georg Forsthuber was a Godfather.)
4. Albert Friedrich--May, 30, 1875 (Johann Georg Forsthuber was aGodfather.)
5. Anna Maria--May 26, 1877 (Johann Jacob Forsthuber was a Godfather.)
Maria Barbara (1844) died sometime after the birth of her last child; andJohannes Forsthuber married Maria Katharina Renk of
Kaltenbach (she was 16 years younger) on April 24, 1884.
Ernstina (1866) married Alexander Boetsch of Griesheim on February 24,1887, in Kaltenbach.
Johannes Forsthuber and Maria Katharina Renk had a daughter named Sopfiain Kaltenbach.
The father of Karl Friedrich Schwald (1866) was never disclosed. Almostalways the father of an illegitimate child was identified; and the fatherusually later married the mother. It is clear that the Schwald andForsthuber families were very close. I have a sneaking suspicion that oneof the Forsthuber brothers fathered Karl Friedrich (1866), most likelyJacob Friedrich, who to my knowledge, never married. But sneakingsuspicions do not count in Genealogy research.
