Frederick Henry KOESTER

Fred Koester, son of Heinrich A. and Dorathea nee Thalmann Koester wasborn on September 14th, 1899 in Ash Grove Township. He became a child of God through the Sacrament of Baptism at St. John's Lutheran Church, Illinois on October 1, 1899.

He was united in marriage to Bertha Schumacher on February 26, 1922. After instruction into the Lutheran faith, Fred was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ash Grove, Il, by Rev. H. Bode.

To this union 5 children were born. Fred and his wife Bertha had farmedin the Danforth area for some time before retiring and moving to Gilman at 510 North Chamberlain Street. Until this part fall Fred had stillbeen quite active in his church here at St. John's and also enjoying tohelp on the farm with his son until failing health occured.

Fred was called into the Lord's Kingdom on Friday evening, November 20th, 1987 at Iroquois Residence Home, Watseka, Illinois. He had reached the age of 88 years, 2 months and 6 days. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife Bertha; 3 daughters, Alvera Bohlmann, Lois Anderson and Velma Swan and 1 son Ralph Koester. One daughter, Norma Mau is deceased.Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery at Danforth, Illinois.
