Notes for this person
Henne der JUNGESTE was a prominent citizen and landowner in Niedernetphen. He is considered to be the progenitor of the JÜNGST Family Line. Henne was the son of one BERCHMAN. A copy of a document from the German Archives on Page 9, written in "Old German"and translated to Modern German, states, in part: "Ich, Henne Berchmanns Sohn, den man nennt den Jungesten, Schöffe zu Netphen, und ich, Heinrich, Rupels Sohn von Nieder Netphen...". English translation: "I, Henne, Berchmann's son, whom one calls the youngest, laymagistrate at Netphen, and I, Heinrich, Rupel's son from Neider (Lower)Netphen..." Henne was probably married twice, but the names of his wives are not known. His second wife may have been the daughter of Schultheiss (Mayor) RUPEL. The second son, Henrich, was married (wife's name not know) and relocated to Uchelhausen. The second son, Rupel (P. 17), was also married, but his wife is not known either. He had one daughter and one son. The daughter, not named, was born about 1482 anddied after 1542. She married JUNGHEN, a farmer in Niedernetphen about 1505. Hans, the son, born about 1485 was not married and died between 1542 and 1551. Henne's death date is not known, but is presumed to have been between 1472 and 1479, based on analysis of property and tax lists. Occupation: Farmer & jurist at Niedernethphen -- apparently a largelandowner. Origin: According to family tradition, the family Juengst immigrated in the 14th century from Hungary across Bavaria to Siegen, Westfalen,Preussen. From 1550 on, people of this name were found in Siegen, Nethphen, Freudenberg, & Dillenburg. Translation from: "The Papermaker - Ancestors in the Family Tree of the Brothers & Sisters Henkel"
Letter from Frau CHAMISSO, dated 4 Jan 2000, states that the birth date for Henne should be 24 Dec 1400 rather than 24 Dec 1399 as shown in the book.
P. 9: Copy of document dated 18 May 1440, in "Old" and "New" German, from the Staatsarchiv Koblenz states: "Ich, Henne Berchmans Sohn, den man nennt den Jungesten, Schöffe zu Netphen...". This statement demonstrates that Henne's father was one BERCHMAN. No further information available for BERCHMAN at this time.
