Faye Daugherty
1918 -- 2009
Faye Daugherty, 90, of Muskogee, died March 10, 2009 in her home with her daughters by her side.
She was born May 21, 1918 to James Surrett and Annie (Cargile) Surrett in Joplin, MO. She graduated from Garber High School in 1936 and attended Oklahoma A & M College (now Oklahoma State University) for two years in the college of business.
Faye worked as secretary with the Farm Security Administration and later with Selective Services in Enid, OK. She later worked as secretary to the principal of Whittier School. On March 11, 1945.
She married Jack Daugherty on his first trip home from overseas. They were happily married until his death in 2005.
Mrs. Daugherty was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK for 56 years. She enjoyed bridge, Mah-Jongg and baking. Faye's Sunday school class was always pleased when she brought desserts.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, three brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Jacque Daugherty of Dallas, TX and daughter & son-in-law, Cindy & Scott Wieczorek, three grandchildren, Alex Ann, Taylor and Hannah; her sister, Mildred Abercrombie& husband, Albert of Wichita, KS and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of the life of Faye Daugherty will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2009 at the Bradley Belltower chapel with Reverend Rex Wilkinson officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
