<p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">Hilda McCabe Adams Age 71 of Bridgeville, DE died Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at home surrounded by her family.<br /><br />Mrs. Adams was born September 22, 1931 in Millville, DE to the late Amos F. and Mary Marguerite West McCabe. She graduated from the University of Delaware in 1953 with a degree in Elementary Education.<br /><br />After graduation she taught4th grade in Laurel for 2 years and then stayed home to raise her children. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Union UMC in Bridgeville and attended St. Matthews By-The-Sea UMC in Fenwick Island.<br /><br />She was also a member of the Bridgeville Lioness and the Seaford Golf and Country Club. She enjoyed spending time in the summer at Bethany Beach.<br /><br />She loved her grandchildren and especially enjoyed watching them play sports. After the death of her son, Mrs. Adams became instrumental in the passage of the Organ Donor Bill in DE.<br /><br />She spoke at the Council of State GovernmentsEastern Region Conference encouraging all states to pass the Organ Donor Bill.<br /><br />As the result of her effort numerous states have adopted similar bills.<br /><br />She was preceded in deathby a son Brent Adams Sr. and a grandson. She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Senator Thurman Adams, Jr.; 2 daughters, Lynn Kokjohn of Greenville, DE and Polly Mervine of Bridgeville, DE; 7 grandsons, Brent, Jr., Chris and Matt Adams, Drew and Brad Slater, Kyle Kokjohn and Stephen Mervine; 2 step grandsons, Trevor and Jeremy Kokjohn; 1 great grandson, Brent Adams III; 2 great granddaughters, Emily and Katie Adams; 3 sisters, Pauline Higgins of Seaford, DE, Ruth Boyle of Millville, DE and Frances Stroud, Seaford, DE; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.<br /><br />Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at 2 pm at the Union UMC in Bridgeville, DE.<br /><br />Viewing will be held from 10am-2 pm. Interment will be at the Bridgeville Cemetery.<br /><br /></p>
