Mrs. Sophia Lustfield was born Jan 18, 1832 in Rehburg, Hanover, Germany. In 1854 she was united in holy wedlock with Fred Lustfield to whichcouple 8 children were born. Four of these died in early youth, in Germany, the remaining four come to America with the parents and are livingtoday. They are: Fred Lustfield, Mrs. Sophie Fiddelke of Paullina, Ernest Lustfield of Grinnell, IA, and Henry who is at the present time inthe Lutheran Sanitarium at Hot Springs, South Dakota. This family withexception of Fred, who came one year earlier, came to this country in 1882 and located at once in O'Brien Co.,IA. In 1899, Mr. Fred LustfieldSr died at the age of 74 yrs(NOTE:s/b be 78 yrs). Mrs. Lustfield then stayed with her son Fred for the following five years, when she and herson Henry moved to Paullina(1904). After the death of her son-in-law, Mr. Fiddelke(1907), she with her son Henry made their home with her daughter, Sophia. They stayed there seven years and then again came to Paullina, where they have lived ever since. Two weeks ago it was found necesary to take her son Henry to a sanitarium and she then went out to thecountry with her son Fred. It was at that home that she passed away onMonday evening at the age of 93yr 1mo 13da(sic). She leaves to mourn her death three sons, one daughter, two daughters-in-law, 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thurdayafternoon at 1:30 from the Fred Lustfield home and then at 2 o'clock atthe local Zion Lutheran church. Interment will be in the Germantown Cemetery.
