My Great Great Grandma Rebecca Driers was born March 9th, 1847 and Markfield, Providence Hanover, Germany where she was educated and confirmed. In August 1868 she was united in marriage to John Hustedt. They movedto America in March 1889 and settled on a farm here. Mrs. Hustedt hasalways enjoyed excellent health prior to nine weeks ago when she took sick and submitted to an operation of gallstones, having merely recovered from the operation and made arrangements on Tuesday to come home thesickness took a backward course and she died within an hour. Bringing her age to 68 years, three months, and 23 days. She leaves to mourn herbeloved husband, eight children and 23 grandchildren. Funeral serviceswere conducted on Friday by Rev. H. Wehking. Intermittent was made in the Hanover Cemetery. Sympathy is extended to the sorrowing ones. This information was provided by the Buena Vista Videette- Hanover news July9, 1915. Well-known and highly esteemed ladies suddenly called. Mrs. J.Hustedt, for 26 years a true member of the German Lutheran St. Johns Church, was unexpectedly called to the Better Land on June 29th. Eight weeks ago she was taken ill with gallstones and about to the middle of May went to Sioux City where she underwent an operation from which she recuperated nicely her husband was with her constantly. On a day of herdeath Henry Hustedt, their son went up to see them as their doctor hadtelephoned that they were ready to come home the next day. One hour before her death she had been out on the porch yet conversing with her fellow patients. Rebecca Hustedt was born March 9, 1847, in Martfelt, Providence Hanover, Germany, where she spent her childhood and youth, alsorenewing her baptismal vows. In August 1968 she was joined in marriagewith John Hustedt. In 1889 day came to the United States and settled onthe farm in Maple Valley Township, at the same time joining the GermanLutheran church. During the years of their residents here, the home was noted for its hospitality which young and old came for many miles toenjoy. She was the mother of three sons and five daughters all surviving and living in this vicinity. Henry Hustedt, Christian Hustedt, Fred Hustedt, and Mrs. Hermann Grieme, Mrs. Johann Otto, Mrs. Karl Radke, Mrs. William Radke, and Mrs. Johann Otto. Funeral services were held at 2o'clock on Friday afternoon at the family residence conducted by Rev. H. Wehking. The remains were taken to the cemetery and church where Rev.H. Wehking preached a funeral sermon. The surviving relatives have thesympathy of numerous friends in their bereavement.
