Marie Elizabeth Mary Popplemeyer has Mary Duesberg on her cemetary name plate at St. Libory,Ill. Many of the tombstones were damaged in a tornado. Marie Elizabeth Mary Popplemeyer had three sisters & a brother,Mathias that came to the St. Louis, Mo. region. Mathias was married in the same church as Marie Elizabeth Mary. It was a German tradition at this time to give the child three names. They would usually call them by their third name. Many times the child would be named after their baptismal sponsor or a favorite relative. Sometimes they would all have the same first name ex. Mary. Her son, John William is buried there also. She had three children. Marie Elizabeth Mary came to America on May.1847. She was married shortly after to John Henry William Dusenberg aka Duesberg on Aug. 3,1847 at St. Mary of Victories Catholic Church,St. Louis,Mo. Marie Elizabeth Mary Popplemeyer was born on May 26,1817 to Ferdinand Popplemeyer & Catharina Marie Helmenkamp in Schinkel,Osnabruck,Germany. She was baptised in St. Petrus Dom in Osnabruck,Germany
