Arlo "Wendy" Lear 82, Indianapolis, died at his residence. He played in numerous country bands and played back-up for many Grand Olde Opry stars at the Crazy Horse Saloon. Prior to that, he played and sang in a religious quartet in the Midwest. Wendy retired from Hoosier Fence, where he was a welder for 25 years. Born in Hamilton, OH, Wendy was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Europe during WWII, and was a member of the VFW Post in Speedway. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 23 at 12:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., with visitation Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wendy is survived by his two sons, David and Douglas Lear; sister, Norma Koverman; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and extended family of musicians and special friends. He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Rose Shalkowski.


KOVERMAN, Norma A. age 89, of Middletown, passed away Friday evening in the West Chester Medical Center. She was born in Hamilton, May 13, 1920, the daughter of James and Clemma Lear, and was a 1941 graduate of the University of Cincinnati. She retired as a Secretary at the Procter & Gamble Company after a 35-year career, and moved to Middletown in the early 1990s. Mrs. Koverman was a member of the Breiel Boulevard Church of God, where she was active with Mission Work, Project Partner, and the World Service Organization. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger L. Koverman in 1979, and by a brother, Arlo Lear in 2005. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Emily Hurt of Cincinnati; 2 nephews, David Lear of St. Bernard, and Douglas Lear of Monroe; several cousins, and lots of friends. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Wednesday, May 20, at the Breitenbach- McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Funeral services will then be held at 6 PM, officiated by the Rev
