[MORGAN] Joshua Morgan, Mecklenburg Co, VA List user 7/1/2018, 8:25:29 AM I have just joined this list today and would like to know what lines are represented here. My "brick wall" is Joshua Morgan who married Elizabeth, dau of Charles and Mary Clay, about 1775. They were in Mecklenburg Co, VA in 1780 when Charles and Mary Clay deeded land to Joshua, Beth and Cary Morgan. Cary/Carey was their oldest son, b about 1776. Joshua continues to appear on the tax lists of Mecklenburg until 1795/1796. After that, I don't have a clue till five of their children show up in Rutherford Co, TN in 1817. Other known children are Rolly Morgan, 1784-1861, m Fannie Moore; Samuel Morgan 1794-1824 m Harriet Hutchens Harris; Elizabeth Morgan m 1824 Benjamin Beauford; Nancy Morgan m before 1812 John Rodgers. Carey Morgan m Nancy Winston. I am aware of a Joshua Morgan in Zanesville, Ohio; one in Wilkes Co, NC; one in east TN--have forgotten the county. I have never found any connection. Does anybody know who are kin of my Joshua? There is some evidence that he served with the NC Militia in the War of 1812, so because of that and the proximity of Meck. VA to Granville, Co NC, I am writing to your query page.
