Birth: Sep. 23, 1834 Lewis County Tennessee, USA Death: Jan. 2, 1909 Lewis County Tennessee, USA Thomas married Martha Jane Dowdy, September 10, 1857. They lived at Hurricane Creek, where they raised their fifteen children (two were twins). Thomas joined the Methodist Episcopal Church in March, 1908, according to a tribute written for his funeral, by his pastor, Rev. Skelton. During the Civil War, Thomas served in Col. George Nixon's 48th Tennessee Infantry. Thomas and Martha are buried in the family graveyard at Cane Creek, northwest of Hohenwald, Tennessee. Their children were: Walter W Brown, Jno D Brown, Thomas C Brown Jr., Rebecca J Brown, Fredonia Brown, Martha L. Brown (married John Turnbow-son of Josiah Turnbow), Jacob A Brown, William D Brown, Taylor Brown, Levi Brown, Nancy E Brown, Melvina, Molly, Patricia and Delphia Mae (married Harv Turnbow - both Delphia & Harv were born in 1899-both buried now in north GA. Harv was the son of John Ike and Martha Alice Turnbow-daughter of Eason Turnbow).
