Birth: Jan. 1, 1904 Trace Creek Lewis County Tennessee, USA Death: Jan. 16, 1909 Trace Creek Lewis County Tennessee, USA Black was the sixth and youngest child of John Ike and Alice Turnbow. It is said that he was a beautiful child and even at the age of 4, he was very smart. He often traded horses with adults. Sadly, he had a physical affirmity from birth, that would never heal. He died in the arms of Mary Alice Turnbow. They rang the bell for Ike Turnbow to return home from working in the field during the day, when this happened. He was named for Dr. R.H. Blackwell, a physician and Civil War veteran who often lived with the family.
