[Bill's Nutt.FTW] "Jake had a magnificent voice and loved to sing. I remember that when he was in the hospital in his last illness, they told of how he would sing - the music reverberating through the hall...and enjoyed by all who heard him - but sad because he knew that his illness would be fatal ... this was before penicillin was available. He had an emergency appendectomy - too late as it had burst ...and gangrene had set in, which is bad even today with all the antibiotics available."
