[Abraham.FTW] Alexander McNutt to David Granville Nutt, Sr. to Murphy Watson Nutt to my great grandfather, James Polk McNutt (he added the "Mc" as requested by his wife). He was Murphy's 4th born and your John was the youngest of 8 children according to my records. I just recently found the surname of the mother of James and John. She was Frances "Fanny" Weaver. A lot of my information came from the book "Nutt/McNutt, Descendants of David Nutt of Orange County, North Carolina". It probably would be bett . I have very little info on Murphy. Doc Nutt sent message that Murphy is son of David Lee Nutt, Sr. and Rachel Cates. Doc also sent Murphy's siblings, do you have these? I am descended from Murphy's son John R. Nutt, born 11-23-1851. Doc Nutt referred me to Nancy S. Wells "Nutt" family tree on Rootsweb, but I haven't seen that yet. I would appreciate any info you have, and will provide what I have if you want it. Did your branch of the family change their name to McNutt? MURPHY WATSON NUTT was born Abt. 1812 in Orange County, North Carolina, and died December 27, 1883 in Lawrence County, Tennessee. He married (1) FRANCES ? Abt. 1833 in Tennessee. She was born Abt. 1815 in Tennessee, and died Abt. 1857 in Lawrence County, Tennessee. He married (2) ELIZABETH SHOOK May 05, 1859. She was born Abt. 1817 in Georgia, and died Unknown. My Murphy was my gggrandfather. His son, James Polk MCNUTT was my great grandfather. Would be interested in sharing any information with you. Holcomb (father of Sarah Clementine) and 13 others, having been reported by Officers of the Command as 'being dangerous persons to remain within our lines (being aiders and abettors of the Rebellion) will appear within ten days from the date hereof at the Provost Marshall General's office in Pulaski, Tn. and give bonds in the sum of $5,000.00 each, and take an oath to hereafter behave and conduct themselves as peaceable and loyal citizens, and to commit no acts that will tend in any manner to aid or abet or give comfort to the Rebellion. This privilege is given them with the understanding that if not faithfully lived up to they, with their families, wil be sent south of the Tennessee River and their property taken, and if violated they will suffer death."
