Lynch-son of Gray Lynch: I have more on descendants if you are interested. James Lynch named one of his children Aden. On the LDS website there is another child named Gray listed, but I have never seen evidence of this child. I have a photo of his gravemarker also if you are interested. 1. William Madison3 Lynch, born 15 Apr 1849 in Richwoods, Miller, MO; died 08 Nov 1935 in Prescott, Yavapai, AZ1. He married Minnie J. Brown 28 Mar 1883 in Prescott, AZ; born 30 Jul 1865 in Denton, Denton, TX; died 09 Jan 1887 in Prescott, Yavapai, AZ. Notes for William Madison Lynch: Lived near Prescott, AZ and lived here at the same time as Virgil Earp and Doc Holliday. Wyatt and Morgan passed through also and stayed with Virgil before continuing on to Tombstone. He entered the Arizona Pioneer Home in 1920, but from 1931-1935 he resided in the home at the same time as Kate Elder/Big Nose Kate/Mary Cummings, Doc Holliday’s notorious one time girlfriend. My grandmother used to tell me that her mother used to tell her stories about cousins that lived in the Wild West and knew the Earps. William’s uncle John Jackson Lane brought his family to live in Prescott as well. My ancestor Malinda Lane Mace was sister to John and she was the only one of her siblings that stayed in Missouri. Evidently the family in Arizona and Missouri wrote to each other since this story was passed on to me. Page 2 11/8/1935-Prescott Courier Matt Lynch, Pioneer Cattle Rancher, Dies The rugged pioneer spirit that fired William Madison (Matt) Lynch to leave his native Missouri in 1874 and seek fame and fortune in Arizona played out at 2:45 o’clock this morning in the middle of his 87th year. Death occurred in the Arizona Pioneers Home where Matt Lynch has been a guest of the state since December 1, 1920. A period of nearly 15 years. In the early days he was engaged in the cattle ranching business, when Arizona’s valleys were lush with waist tall grass and, in truth, the deer and the antelope roamed, plentiful and far. Lynch’s wife died 48years ago. Their daughter 42 since. There survives a son, Frank Lynch, who is ranching near Prescott on Willow Creek. The elder Lynch was born April 14, 1848 in Tuscumbia MO, the son of James T. and Mary T. Lane Lynch. Services are scheduled for 2:30 o’clock Monday afternoon in the chapel of Lester Ruffner Funeral Home, the Rev. John. L. Losh of the first Baptist church to deliver the funeral sermon. Burial is to be made in the family plot in the old Simmons cemetery.
