Grace Emma Martin Kaufman Birth: Apr. 5, 1920, Sandusky County, Ohio, USA Death: Jun. 27, 2006, Fremont, Sandusky County, Ohio, USA Grace Emma Kaufman, 86, of Fremont, passed away peacefully Tuesday [27.6.2006] at Parkview Care Center. She was born to Jacob and Jesse (Speck) Martin on April 5, 1920, on the family farm in Riley Township. Grace attended a one-room schoolhouse until the 8th grade, when she then went to Fremont Ross High School and graduated in 1938. Grace married Norman R. "Bud" Kaufman on July 13, 1942, at Grace Lutheran Church. They were married for 63 years until Bud's death on Nov. 6, 2005. She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church and also belonged to the Daughter's Circle. She worked at the Eveready Battery Factory in Fremont until Bud came back from WII. Grace retired from Joseph's Department Store and spent a few years working at the Hayes Presidential Center as a guide. She was a longtime member of Fremont Country Club where she played golf in the ladies association, and former member of the Fremont Garden Club. She is survived by son, James (Susan) Kaufman of Fort Worth, daughter Jane E. Beckman of Fort Worth, Texas, grandsons, Christopher J. Kaufman of Coral Springs, Fla. and Phillip C. Beckman, Forth Worth, Texas; one great-grandson and two great granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; brothers, J. Robert Martin and Leslie Martin, Sister Betty Peterson and grandson Jeffrey M. Kaufman. The family would like to thank Parkview Care Center for their excellent care.
