Brent A. Thies, 47, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Campbell Hill, passed away at his home Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, in Clearwater, Fla.
Brent was born June 3, 1965, in Murphysboro, the son of Lester C. and Verdelle Eggemeyer Thies.
Brent was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill and a former member of the St. Luke's Bell Choir.
He was a former member of Campbell Hill Jaycees and a former member of Campbell Hill/Ava Ambulance Service. Brent graduated from Trico High School, class of 1983. He worked locally for Dave's IGA in Steeleville. He thereafter moved to Clearwater, Fla., and began employment with Walgreens. Brent rose through the ranks to become a store manager. He was well thought of by hiscoworkers and employees.
Brent is survived by his mother, Verdelle
brothers-in-law, Willard (Elaine) Knop of Steeleville and George Randolph of Hurst; brothers and sisters, Larry (Paula) Fisher of Campbell Hill, Patty (Dan) Kenner of Herrin, Retha Meyerhoff of Percy, Doug (Chris) Thies of Campbell Hill and Lonnie (Marla) Fisher of Campbell; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
Brent was preceded in death by his father, Lester Thies; sisters, Pam Knop and Cathy Randolph; brother-in-law, Larry Meyerhoff; and nephew, Jonathan Knop.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, with the Rev. Matthew T. Kamprath officiating. Burial will be in St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery in Campbell Hill. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Friday at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, then from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
