<p><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Futura Today'; font-size: 15px;">Ronald F. Hurley, VMD, 62, of West Creek, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Neptune and lived there until moving here 37 years ago. Ronald graduated Neptune High School in 1965, he then graduated Lafayette College in 1969 and The University of Pennsylvania in 1973. Ronald was the former owner of Stafford Veterinary Hospital, Manahawkin, along with Dr. John Hauge. He was an assistant coach for Stafford Rec. basketball, a past coach and president of Stafford Soccer Club/ Alliance FCfrom 1988- 2003, a Dart Racing Driver from 1972-1983 and also loved riding his Harley.</span><br style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Futura Today'; font-size: 15px;" /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Futura Today'; font-size: 15px;">He was predeceased by his father, Alfred, in 2003. Ronald is survived by his mother, Marion E. Hurley of Neptune; his sons, Dean Hurley of Summit, and Gavin Hurley of Newport, R.I. Ronald is also survived by his Loving Companion, Gina Nozza; his sister, Nancy Schmeiser and husband Harold of Brick; nephew, Michael Schmeiser of Neptune; niece, Lori Schmeiser and husband Larry of Missouri, and he was a very dear friend to Jaime, Tara, and Mark Nozza.</span></p>

From 1937 to 1940, payments were made in one-lump sums amounts with the first amount being seventeen cents. Following amendments in 1939, the payments turned into monthly benefits and increased. Following further amendments in 1950, cost-of-living increases were awarded to those who were receiving benefits. From 1950 to the present, benefits have increased yearly in response to inflation concerning the costs of living. |
