Charles F. Zimmerman, 77, of West Deer died Tuesday (June 4, 2002), at Outlook Pointe Nursing Home, Saxonburg. He was born Aug. 11, 1924, in O'Hara, and had lived in West Deer the past 48 years. A World War II veteran, he served as a sergeant in the Army. He was a machinist for 35 years for the former Pittsburgh Wire Manufacturing, Lawrenceville. Later, he was a driver for the Butler Auto Auction for seven years. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Catherine Gulla Zimmerman; a daughter, Mrs. Karen (Brian) Knight of West Deer; and a sister, Mrs. Helen (Robert) Ickert of Glenshaw. Also surviving are two grandsons, Shawn Charles Knight and Scott Brian Knight. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lillie Hahn Zimmerman, and a sister, Lillian Redman. Friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the ADAM SIEMIANOWSKI FUNERAL HOME, Starr Road, Russellton, West Deer, where a service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday. Officiating will be the Rev. Laurie Milligan, pastor of East Union Presbyterian Church, West Deer. Burial will be in East Union Cemetery, West Deer.
