Marian Vera Henneberg
Marian's parents emigrated from Kulm, Russia to Kulm, North Dakota, drawn to America by the offer of free land for farmers. She grew up on the farm with 6 brothers and sisters. Life was hard on the farm during the financial depression of the 1930's.Her father was unable to pay the property taxes so the homestead was lost to foreclosure. She has to drop out of Sheyenne River Academy because there was no money. Some of her Female friends found jobs in California working for wealthy families, so in 1938 and again in 1940 she followed them to the "Golden State" whereshe struck it rich, not in money, but in love. At the Burlingame Seventh-day Adventist church she was introduced to Andy a young, handsome, red-haired carpenter who happened to be the Missionary Volunteer Leader of the church. They dated for one year, then were engaged for 60 hours, and then eloped to Reno, Nevada. Andy borrowed enough gas money from his mom to get them home.
(Note from ElvinKrueger)... In addition to being active as a minister's wife, she worked part time as a Baker for me at the local hospital. She was an excellent baker and superb cook.Quellenangaben
