Details: Hide article text (OCR) Ben C. Woods LILLIAN — The family of Ben Woods is sad to report his unexpected passing on Saturday, June 23, 2012. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Texas Patriot Guard Riders. Please visit their website www.texaspatriot- guard.org. Ben was born in Fort Worth in 1946. He graduated Mansfield High School in 1964 and continued his studies at Henderson County Junior College in Athens, Texas. Ben was very proud of his Texas heritage and never missed an opportunity to learn more or share his enthusiasm with others. Ben Woods embraced a life of many careers - he was proud of his accomplishments in both creative and technical fields from radio broadcasting, electrician, printing, and computer repair and programming. space boom After being graduated from University of Houston in 191 she went to work at Johnson Spain Center in Houston as a technical illustrator for Lockheed Muitin and continued this career for 71 years with various companies She later became an admimstiative assistant and again worked for Lockheed Martin While in Houston she met her soulmate and husband Ben Woods They were adventuiers always exploring new things She introduced Ben to snow skiing which they enjoyed extensively in Utah Ui n mlio-ducod Ann to motoi cycles and they enjoyed many trips on their individual bikes They tried a print shop and newspaper in Alpine moved to Albuquerque NM where they became involved in hot air ballooning and finally returned to the Mansfield aiea where they settled in the little community of Lillian Besides the many trips they enjoyed to places like the Bahamas Jamaica Tahiti and Hawaii they also shared a love of cooking eating and entertaining and Ann always had a big plot of floweis blooming Many thanks to all the friends family members and neighbors who have visited and helped in so many ways during her final battle with cancer at home Final place of rest will be South Padre Island with the warm white sands and soaring seagulls and the gentle surf rushing to shore "Oh I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings -put out my hand and touched the face of God --John Gillespie Magee Jr "High Flight" SURVIVORS: Ben Woods, husband, friend, soulmate and caregiver plus his large extended family including daughter Autumn and Barney Brennan and granddaughter De-na Pearle in Oregon, Joseph "Joe" Pettit son and friend in many instances his wife Shelly and daughter Sara cousins and other family members still in West Virginia and many Pettit family members in Ohio Skyvue Funeral Home Mansfield 817-478-6955 View and sign guestbook at wwwstar-telegramcomobrtuanes
