GERSTBREIN MILDREDAge 76, of Kittanning, PA, died, Monday, October 5, 2009, at her home. She was born October 18, 1932 in Duquesne, PA, to Matthew and Antoinette (Magdic) Draskovich. A former resident of the Pittsburgh area, Mrs. Gerstbrein had resided in Kittanning for the past 30 years. She was a graduate of the West Penn Hospital School of Nursing and later worked at West Penn Hospital, where she met her husband, Harry Gerstbrein. They were married for 43 years until his death in 1999. Mildred was a lifelong gardener and was well known for her horticultural expertise. She was a past president of the Kittanning Garden Club and a recipient of numerous awards for her plants and floral designs. She is survived by three sons, Timothy M. Gerstbrein of Cowansville, Eric F. Gerstbrein of Pittsburgh, and Harry L. Gerstbrein and wife Jeanine of McDonald; a daughter, Lisa A. McCanna and husband Andy of Kittanning; a son-in-law, Conrad Sugrue of Pittsburgh; a brother, Matthew Draskovich and wife Connie of Orlando, FL; and a sister, Anne Powell and husband John of Sacramento, CA. She also is survived by a grandson, Matthew Gerstbrein. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Julianne Gerstbrein Sugrue, who died in February 2009. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at the Gerstbrein home on 209 Locust Lane Kittanning, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Kittanning, PA, with the Rev. Daniel Blout officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Mt. Troy Road, Pittsburgh, PA. Arrangements are being handled by BAUER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC.
