[Krug-Grunwald-Tree.GED] St. Paul's Lutheran Church Birth Record Date of Birth: 8-12-1862 Christening: 10-5-1862 Parents: not listed Sponsors: Jacob Petri, Margaretha Waldschmidt St. Paul's Lutheran Church Death Record Date of Death: 1-12-1909 Burial: 1-16-1909 Cause: broken neck Age: 46 years, 5 months Survivors: Wife, 8 children OBITUARY: Commonwealth Reporter, Fond du Lac, WI - Dated: 1-13-1909 JACOB KRUG DEAD; NECK IS BROKEN Falls From Cutter Which Capsizes On Bridge CAMPANION IS BADLY HURT Bad accident Happened in the Town of Forest at Early Hours This Morning Jacob Krug, a well known farmer residing in the Town of Forest, his farm being 15 miles from this city, was instantly killed at 4 o'clock this morning on the road between Mt. Calvary and St. Cloud being thrown off the bridge spanning the Sheboygan River, two miles from Mt. Calvary. The cutter, in which Krug and August Olank were riding, ran off the bridge, when horses became frightened at some object on the side of the road. Krug suffered a complete fracture of the neck, while Plank was so badly injured that it is feared he cannot recover. The latter is in an unconscious condition and from marks on the side of his head it is suspected that his skull was fractured. It was quite dark at the time of the accident. The men were on their way to St. Cloud. When they reached the bridge over the Sheboygan River, the horse took fright as it plunged to the side and the cutter overturning dropped off from the bridge. Krug and Plank were wrapped up in robes and were unable to extricate themselves and fell head first to the ice below. The river was frozen over and both men fell to what seemed instant death. When they were picked up it was apparent that Krug had been dead for some time. The neck was broken. Physicians were summoned from Fond du Lac. The dead man is a well known resident of the Town of Forest and has a number of relatives living in Fond du Lac. He leaves a wife and eight children, also two brothers, Henry and George of Forest. Commonwealth Reporter - Dated: 1-15-1909 Funeral services for Jacob Krug whose death occurred Wednesday morning will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday morning from the residence. At 1 o'clock from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Forest with the Rev. A.F. Ziegler officiating, and burial will be in Forest Cemetery.
