Johann Henrich was known as Henry once he came to America. We believe this was in January of 1857, though his record in the Houston County death register sets the immigration date as 9 Sep 1954. Grandson Al told how his grandfather came with other German settlers up the Mississippi from New Orleans. The captain of the riverboat found them a place to settle (Brownsville, MN) and bargained with them to trade for their home grown vegetables on his future trips up and down the river. Several other Forschler families immigrated at about this same time, nephews of Henry, and they remained in New Orleans. A brief note in the Brownsville News of October 5, 1866 tells us of his good crop that year: "Mr. Henry Foshler (sic), of this place, informs us that he has raised from the seed. He says he did not expect to eat apples from them when he planted the seed; but the soil and climate brought forth the fruit, and prolonged the days of the old man to eat thereof." Besides their two surviving children, Houston County death records report the death of twins which may have been children of Henry and Barbara: "John Foshler and Catherine Foshler, born in Minnesota 12 Jun 1859; died in Sept. 	Das angebliche Todesdatum ist falsch, - der Eintrag bezieht sich auf die Witwe und lautet: "d. 4. Apr. hat man Z Grab getragen Anna Magdalena W. Melchiör Holtzwarthen Seel. Hinterlassenes Weib ihres alters 87. jahr 9 monath. 9. tag"
