SUHR CLAIRE J. 12/02/1902 F - Austin County Courthouse, Austin County TXGenWeb Funeral services for Clara Suhr, 95, of Bellville, Texas were held on Monday, April 6, 1998 at 2 p.m. from Knesek Bros./Etlinger Funeral Chapel in Bellville with Rev. Thomas Wallace and Rev. Roy Biser officiating. Interment was at the Cat Spring Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Ernie Koy Jr., William Johnson, Allan Hillboldt, Allen Ladig, Robert Uhlig, and Fritz Engelking. Clara Suhr was born Dec. 2, 1902 in Cat Spring, Texas to parents August Suhr and Otillie Dittert Suhr. She was raised in Cat Spring and attended the Cat Spring public schools. Clara attended the Massey Business College and was a teacher of shorthand and business machines there also. Afterwards, she worked for the United States District Courts of Paroles and Probations for 25 years until her retirement. She then moved to Bellville where she lived for the past 20 years. Clara was a member of the Bellville First United Methodist Church, loved children and babysitting. After moving to Bellville she worked in the nursery at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Most dear to her heart was the family of Ernie and Barbara Koy, with whom she spent many happy hours. Clara Suhr died Friday, April 3, 1998 in Bellville, Texas. She is survived by her niece, Janice Engelking and her husband, Fritz of Cat Spring, great-niece, Lynn Johnson and husband, Danny of North Plains, Ore., three great-great nieces, Sally, Emily, and Christy Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister and a great nephew. Memorial contributions may be made to Bellville General Hospital or the charity of your choice.
