THEODORE MAIER

Theodore (Ted) Maier, 79, of Fort Dodge died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004 at Trinty Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24th in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with the Rev. Lynn Bruch officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be presented by the VFW Post 1856. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where there will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a vigil at7 p.m.

Surviving are his sons, Ted and his wife Rosemary of Riverside, Calif., Dick and his wife Sue of Fort Dodge; daughters, Jeanne Taylor and her husband Matt of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Kathryn Roeder and her husband Greg of Rochester, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bruce of Fort Dodge. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore N. and Fairie (Beightol) Maier, his wife Barbara in 1997, an infant son Michael Eugene and sisters, Katie Dencklau and Madonna Cervene.

Theodore V. Maier was born Dec. 26, 1924 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School and served with the U.S. Army in the infantry division in the South Pacific during World War II. Ted was a recipient of the purple heart and upon his honrable discharge, he returned to Fort Dodge. On July 14, 1947 he was united in marriage to Barbara Russell at St. Joseph’s Church in Barnum and they established their home in Fort Dodge. He was employed for National Gypsum for several years, and later became employed for the City of Fort Dodge in the Water Department, where he worked until his retirement.

Ted was a member of the military order of the PurpleHeart, the D.A.V. (and volunteer), the Knights of Columbus Council 613, a long time usher at Corpus Christi Church, and a volunteer at Trinity Regional Medical Center. His life was surrounded by his love for his family, relatives, and religion.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
