Passed away Wednesday morning, July 24, 2002. Ken was born December 10, 1917 in Blue Island, Illinois, the son of Louis and Elsie (Ganzer) Brockman. he spent his lifetime working for the Rock Island Railroad, and at the time of his retirement was the General Chairman of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Ken was a member of Portage First United Methodist Church. On June 27, 1939 he was united in marriage to Marvel Jean (Brawner) in Champaign, IL, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Patrician Nyblom of Portage, Karen (Jim) Thompson of Portage, Susan (John) Quetermus of Richland, and Ann Konuk of Portage; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Smith of Oak Forest, IL, and Eilzabeth Nagel of Orland Park, IL; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 12:00 o'clock Saturday at the Portage First United Methodist Church, 8740 S. Westnedge, with The Rev. Greg Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. 343-1508, on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence or Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo.
