Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home, Highland, IL, Wednesday 2 Aug 2006:Robert Charles Koch, age 47, of Highland, IL., died Monday, July 31,2006, at his residence in Highland, IL. He was born October 28, 1958, in Highland, IL., the son of Lawrenceand Anna (nee Berndsen) Koch. On September 27, 1980, he married Jean M. (Byrnes) Koch, who survives. Mr. Koch grew up in Highland, attended St. Paul Grade School andgraduated from Highland High School in 1976. He attended BellevilleArea College, earning a degree in drafting. He worked at Lucco Inc.,in Edwardsville, IL, for 10 years. For the past 20 years he worked atPrecision Scales and Controls in St. Louis, MO. He was licensed withthe department of Agriculture as a Scale Technician. He drove race car #17 and was a champion in the Bomber Division atHighland Speedway. He also raced in Belleville with Allied AutoRacing. He spent many hours working on his race cars and everyoneelses. He also had played with the Highland-Pierron Merchants andAmerican Legion Baseball team and was a former bowler. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church-Highland, IL., and aformer member of the Southwestern Auto Racing Assoc. Survivors also include Father-Lawrence H. Koch of Highland, Ill.,Son-Chad R. Koch of Highland, Ill., Son-Andrew J. Koch of Highland,Ill., Son-Darren J. Koch of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Karla M. Koch ofHighland, Ill., Grandchild-Carson R. Talleur of Highland, Ill.,Sister-Mary Jane Jackson of Beckemeyer, Ill., Brother-William H.(Edie) Koch of O'Fallon, Ill., Sister-Nancy A. Opperman of Tampa,Fla., Father & Mother In-law-Garrett J. & Cheryl M. (nee Meyer) Byrnesof Saint Jacob, Ill. He was preceeded in death by his Mother-Anna Jane Koch. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 2,2006 and from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM Thursday, August 3, 2006, atSpengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 3, 2006, atSpengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL., with Fr. David L.Peters, Pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL.,officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.
