1. Obituary Peoria (Illinois) Star, February 10, 1914, Page 17. Mrs. Sophia M. M. Ehlen At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Daniel W. Uebel, corner of Elizabethstreet and the Knoxville road, Mrs. Sophia M. M. Ehlen died last nightat the age of 68 years, 1 month, and 1 day. Mrs. Ehlen, Nee Thielbar,was born on January 8, 1840, in Dearborn County, Indiana and came toPeoria at the age of 18. On October 29, 1865, she was united inmarriage to Herman John Ehlen and to them were born two sons and fivedaughters. Two daughters, Anna Sophia and Ida Anna, died in theirinfancy and one son, Luther, died at the age of 14. Mr. Ehlen, herhusband, died four year ago last December. She had been an invalid forthe past nine years, but bore her suffering with Christian fortitudeand with an unwavering faith in God, she calmly awaited the end. She is survived by one son and three daughters--John Frederick Ehlen;Elizabeth, wife of Henry Goller; Mathilda, wife of Daniel W. Uebel,and Miss Elsie Ehlen. She also leaves eleven grandchildren and sevenbrothers. The funeral service will be held at the Uebel residence,1724 North Elizabeth street on Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock, thenceto the First German M. E. church of which she had long been a member,and the services will be conducted by Rev. E. H. Muelder. The remainswill be reverently laid to rest in Springdale cemetery.
