Obituary Frieske, Lydia Hemmerling w/o Gustav, (d. July 11, 1978; b. 1898; TS;OC; obit) “Funeral services were conducted for Lydia Frieske on Friday July 14at the UCC in Odessa. Interment was in the Odessa Cemetery, RevEverett E. Schoessler officiated at the services with Strate FuneralHome in charge of arrangements. Lydia Frieske was born April 14, 1898in Saratov, South Russia, the daughter of Gottlieb and Louisa (Jeske)Hemmerling. She was baptized as an infant in Russia. She came with herfamily to the United States and settled on a farm north of Odessa inabout 1901. She was confirmed into the Christian Faith on Feb 9, 1913in the Pilgrim Congregational Church, by the Rev J Reister. Lydia wasmarried to Gustav Frieske on Jan 28, 1923, in the Pilgrim Church. Thecouple farmed south of Odessa for four years, then north of town fortwo years. In 1929, they moved into town and lived there until 1940when they moved to Spokane and worked in apartment management. MrsFrieske suffered a crippling stroke in March of 1976 and was aresident of a nursing home in Spokane since July 6, 1976. She passedaway at the nursing home on July 11, 1978. Survivors are her husband,Gust, of Odessa; a brother, Fred Hemmerling of Odessa; a sister, LenaRaugust of Spokane; numerous nieces and nephews.” (Odessa Record:7-20-1978)
