Birth:
He was born in September 1728 in the village Vorwohlde in the Sulingen parish in Lower Saxony in Germany and baptised in Sulingen on the 30th of September. His parents were Christian and Ilse Köstermann. (F1)
In 1910 Vorwohlde had 102 inhabitants. Then it was a part of the village Nordsulingen. (A1)
Childhood:
He grew up on his parents' farm in Vorwohlde. (F1)
The farm was called the Köstermann farm (according to the Klein Lessen genealogy in the Sulingen civic archive). One of his brothers probably inherited it.
Work:
Harm Köstermann was a farmer. He inherited farm no. 3 in the village Bockhorn, which is also in the Sulingen parish, from his wife’s father. The farm was in an area called Sandheide. (F1)
He was a 'Beibauer'.
In 1787 there was a farmhouse, an external kitchen, and a shed for peat and hay on his farm. (1787 “Brandkataster” from Sulingen)
In 1996 the address of his property was Bockhorn 3, Sulingen. The owner was Heinrich Mohrmann.
Marriage:
He married the single Anne Margarethe Mohrmann from Bockhorn on the 7th of September 1753 in the Lutheran church in Sulingen. (F1)
They raised a family on the farm no. 3 in Bockhorn. (F1)
Death:
He died on the 11th of February 1796 in Bockhorn. He was 67 years old. He was buried in the cemetery in Sulingen three days later. (F1)
Other Information:
1. Harm Köstermann was also called Harm Gödeker before he married.
2. Because Anne Margarethe Mohrmann inherited her parents' farm, her husband and her children adopted the name of the farm, namely Mohrmann. This often happened at that time.
3. In the documents "Hann. 74 Sulingen Nr. 32" and "Hann. 74 Sulingen Nr. 33" in the civic archive of Hannover, Harm Gödeker/Köstermann was called Harm Mohrmann.
