EMIL W. MARTENS
St. Marys- Emil W. Martens, 69, St. Marys, died Thursday at a Topeka hospital.
He was born March 13, 1901, at Kaw Township in Wabaunsee County and spent most o his life in the St. Marys and Alma communities. He was a retired farmer.
He was married in 1924 to Martha Herren, who survives at Home. He was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church at Wells Creek.
Survivors besides his widow include three daughters, Mrs. Lorene Seitz, St. Marys, Mrs. Lois Gren, El Paso, Tex., and Mrs. Betty Barthuly, St. Marys; two sons, Delbert Martens, Grand island, Neb., and Ray Martens, Elwood; a brother henry Martens, Manhattan; five sisters, Mrs. Clara Reiners, Belvue, Mrs. Ida Voslok, Wamego, Mrs. Ella Mathies, Alma, Mrs. Martha Casper, Wamego, and Mrs. Lydia Heine, Belvue; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Services will be at 2 pm Saturday at Hammond Hall of the St. Marys United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Valley Vie Cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the church.
