Final rites held for Herman Pogeler

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for Herman Pogeler resident of this region over 65 years, who died the preceding Thursday at Lutheran hospital in Ft. Dodge.
Pastor Alfred Mardorf of St. Paul American Lutheran church officiated at Larson Funeral Home. His son Allen Mardof accompanied Mrs. Rolland Collmann who sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "I'm But a Stranger Here."
Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery the following serving as casket bearers: Elmer Wendt, August Wendt, Bob Wendt, Kenneth Pogeler, Arthur M. Johnson and Chris Johnson.
Herman Wilken Pogeler son of Bernard and Elizabeth Pogeler, nee Juilifs, was born October 2, 1879 in Aetzet, Eastfriesland, Germany. As an infant he was baptized into the Lutheran Christian faith.
When 12 years of age, he came to America with the Pogeler family. On March 26, 1893 he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith by the late Re. E. Herman.
Mr. Pogeler was united in marriage with Emma Wend on February 14, 1906 by the late Rev C. Herrewig. They lived to observe their golden wedding.
For 35 years the Pogeler family farmed in the Pocahontas county area north of Manson. In December of 1942, the Pogelers moved to their home in Mason where Mr. Pogleler lived until his death.
Mrs. Pogleler's health began to fail approximately three years ago. Several times his condition required his being hospitalized. He went to the hospital approximately three weeks ago. His condition became very serious Wednesday of last week and the following Thursday afternoon he passed away.
In addition to his wife. Mr. Pogeler is servived by one daughter Martha, Mrs. Harry Dana of Manson; one son, Lawrence , at home, one brother Ben, of Manson; one sister Mrs. Lizzie Wendt, also of this community; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren. One son, William preceded him in death. A brother, John died just a month ago.
Among those from out of town at the services were Mrs. Richard Breiner of Des Moines; Mrs. and Mrs. Glenn Pogeler of Manson City; Mr and Mrs. W.F. Bryant of Sioux City; Mrs and Mrs. Walter Lata of Chicago; Mrs. and Mrs. Herb O'Brien and family of Boone; Mrs. and Mrs. Ed Pageler of Belvue, Kans; Mrs. August Willie and Mrs. Harold Hafenstein of Wamego.
