MRS. ELIZABETH HAASE

Funeral services were held at 2:30 last Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Elizabeth Haase, 71, at the Evangelical church on Wells Creek with the Rev. Engelmann of Alma as the minister. Burial was made in the Wells Creek cemetery.
Mrs. Haase died Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alvina Krause in Topeka. She was born October 19th, 1874, at Elgin, Ill. Her parents were Ernest and Fredereka Schlief. children surviving are three daughters and one son; Mrs. Krause of Topeka, John Haase, St. Marys, Mrs. Anna Heiss of Alemeda, Calif., Mrs. Geo. Herboy, Meriden. Also two brothers Ernest Holz of Wamego, Henry Holz, of Belvue and three sisters, Mrs. Sophia Hasenbank, St. George, Mrs. Martha Buchmeier, Paxico, Mrs. Emma Breitschwert of Wamego.

Obituary - Haase

Elizabeth Holz, daughter of Ernest and Freidericka Holz, was born October 19, 1874, at Elgin, Illinois and departed this life, October 22, 1945, at the age of 71 years and 4 days at the home of her daughter in Topeka.
She came to Kansas with her parents in 1883, was confirmed at the Wells Creek Evangelical Church and on February 26, 1891 was united in the bonds of holy wedlock at Wells Creek, to Frank Haase also of Illinois, who preceded her in death on April 1, 1918. To this union seven children were born, three of them preceded her in death, two in infancy and Sophia at the age of six. The surviving children are: Alvena Krause of Topeka, John Haase of St. Marys, Anna Heise of Brawley, California and Minnie Hervy of Meriden,k Kansas. She is also survived by two brothers, henry and Ernest Holz of Belvue, three sisters, Mrs. Martha Buchmeier of Paxico, Mrs. Sophia Hasenbank of Manhattan, and Mrs. Emma Breitschwerdt of Wamego. Two brothers Fred and William Holz and one sister, Mrs. Augusta Martens preceded her in death.
She leaves ten grandsons, nine grand daughters, four great grandsons an done great grand daughter and host of other relatives and many friends by who she will be sadly missed.
She was a conscientious Christian and a loving mother and though for nine years she had been an invalid she never complained of her physical handicaps and was well prepared for that Eternal HOme.
All of her children were at her side when she passed away, except her daughter Anna, who was unable to come from Calif because of transportation difficulties.
The funeral services were held Thursday at the Wells Creek Evangelical church. Rev. A. O. Engelmann of alma conducted the sermon and read the favorite Bible passage of Mrs. Haase, Psalm 23, also her Confirmation verse Luke 11:28.
A choir of four, Mrs. August Erikson, Mrs. Herman Volkening, Herman Breymeyer and John Abele sand, "The Old Rugged Cross," "God will Take Care of YOU" and "nearer My HOme". Mrs. Gilbert Willie accompanied them at the piano.
Pallbearers were nephews; Fred Holz, Walter Holz, Bob Buchmeier, Adolph Breitschwerdt, Elmer Holz and Elmer Hasenbank.
