MRS. E. L. BREITHSCHWERDT

Emma Lena Breitschwerdt, daughter of the late Ernest and Frederika Holz, was born December 2, 1881, near Elgin in cook county, Illinois and died June 18, 1955 at the home of her sons, Adolph and Leo Breitschwerdt in Wamego, Kansas . She had reached the age of 73 years, 6 months and 15 days.

On January 5, 1882, she was received into the fellowship of the Church by the sacrament of Baptism administered by the Rev. R. a. Krueger of Elgin, Illinois. she came to the Wells Creek community of Wabaunsee County, Kansas, with her parents and on April 21, 1895 became a member of Immanuel Evangelical Church by the rite of confirmation administered by the Rev. John Abele.

On October 29, 1903, she was married to Christian Breitschwerdt by the Rev. John Abele. For many years they lived on a farm south of Wamego. After the death her husband on March 27, 1936 she moved to Wamego.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and three brothers; and one son who died in infancy.

She is survived by her children, Adolph and Leo of Wamego, Mrs. Mabel Feyh of near Alma, and Mrs. Sylvia Bowers of Hollydale, California; a brother, Henry Holz of near Belvue and a sister, Mrs. Martha Buchmeier of Paxico; eleven grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church of Wells Creek on June 21, 1955 with the Rev. A. Vernon Kurz officiating. Internment was in the church cemetery.
