Maurice Leslie Huff, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarke W. Huff, passedfrom thislife into the `Great Beyond` at the home of his parents,Monday April 5, 1915. Hewas born August 11, 1903 and at the time ofhis death, was 11 years, 7 months and25 days of age.
Maurice had been ailing only ashort time before his case becamealarming and the it was found that he was suffering from kidney, bloodand heart complications, which speedily developed into Aplastic Anemiain its most acuteand violent form. He was taken at once to St.Joseph`s Hospital in Omaha, whereall that medical skill could doproved futile.
After being in the hospital for 2weeks, he came home accompanied byhis parents and a nurse. He lingered for 9days and on Monday, April5, about an hour before noon
There fell upon the housea sudden gloom,
A shadow on those features fair and thin;
And softly fromthat hushed and darkened room
Two angels issued, where only one came in.
One consolation is that the little fellow did not suffer any acutepains morethana sinking faintness. In the history of medicalpractice in Omaha hospitals,therehave been only 26 similar cases.
He leaves to mourn his early demise, his parents, seven brothers,grandparents, uncles, aunts, besides a host of friends. Thefuneral onWednesday, April 7th, at the home, was largely attended, so great andsosincere was the sympathy of the community toward the family sogrievouslybereaved. A ladies` trio from the choir of the MethodistChurch sang, `Only a Little While` and `Rock of Ages`. Rev. Geo. C.McDougal spoke briefly from Zech. 6and 5, `The city shall be full ofboys and girls playing in the streets thereof.`The interment was in`Hillside Cemetery` Little Sioux.
A large number of messages, both written and wired, some of which wereread at the service, attest thedep and heartfelt sympathy among alarge circle of friends for the bereaved family. A deeper touch ofsadness was given to the occasion on account of Mrs. Huff`smother,Mrs.Seymour, of Creighton, NE an invalid for years past, being muchworsethan usual.Which fact kept Mrs. Huff`s floks from beingpresent.
Obit in local paper inthe exact way it was.
