As there was no pastor inErdmannhausen (1839 - 1841) at that time it is assumed that a pastorfrom a neighboring parish performed the ceremony. In 1847 Johann Gottlob #3 (John G.) BAUER emigrated to Ohio, NorthAmerica ["1847 mit Reisepaß nach Nordamerika"]. where the HOFMANNbrothers from Erdmannhausen, Johannes HOFMANN(1791 - 1872) married toEva POMMER (1795 - 1876) and Johann Georg HOFMANN(1787 - 1854) marriedto Katharina Barbara POMMER (1789 - 1834) had been living since 1832and 1838 respectively. Emigration "with passport" means that Johann Gottlob BAUER did notapply to his Erdmannhausen community for official emigrationpermission, i.e. he left illegally as did many of the emigrants inthose days. The reasons might have been exit taxes and the risk ofmilitary conscription. In 1852 his emigration was legalized by thecommunity of Erdmannhausen.
