My mother was born EllenMarie Woodcock. She married Gale Edwin Wallace in Astoria, Oregon. I am her daughter, Gaila Marie Wallace Cassiday. My brother, Wane Galen Wallace, was born two later. After the war, we moved back to Miland, Michigan. My father became apolice officer in the City of Midland. When I was about four years old, my parents divorced. Ellen then went on to marry Martin Van Buren Wixson. We becamea blended family as Martin had a dauther, Linda Wixson.
After I was married in 1962, Ellen divorced Martin. She eventually remarried again and moved toJoliet, Illinois. While there, she became very ill and died at the age of 49.
Gaila Wallace Cassiday has three children, Ellen's grandchildren. KellyMarie, Jeffery Scott and Jennifer Leigh. Ellen has four great-grandchildren, Nichole Marie, Kacie Gailann, Avery Elizabeth and Haley Christine. Also a great grandson by Wane's former wife. His name is Sterling.
Ellen was a wonderful mother. She worked at Dow for many years. She was beautiful, full of life, kind. Ellen came from a family of eight children. Of those 8 children, only four remain with us today. She was an awesome grandma. When she went out of the house, she always had her hair done, makeup on and was dressed like she was goingto a party. After all of these years, she is very, dearly missed by her daughter. As of October 24, 2007, she would have been 84 years old."
