Lucy Howard's ancestors are not clearly identified. Some internetgenealogies make her the daughter of Groves Howard and Hannah Allenfrom Granville County, North Carolina. This assumption does not appear to be correct. The census recordsstate that Lucy Howard was from Virginia, not from Carolina. Also, herbirth date appears to have been around 1788. Grove Howard's daughterLucy was born in 1782 instead. This birth occured in North Carolina. Also, it appears that this Lucy Howard dies 1852(http://www.josephirvine.com/Genealogy/html/d0000/g0000047.html#I697)and was not at all related to the Lucy Howard who was married to JamesCampbell. According to the available information, Groves Howard, who allegedlywas Lucy's father left a dated 12 May 1804 in Granville County, NorthCarolina. This document needs to be viewed to clarify whether heindeed was Lucy's father or not. Until then, this parentage cannot beconsidered trustworthy.
